| A play dear to lovers of all ages.
Piloto e Lassie, uma outra estória de Romeu e Julieta has a realistic and refreshingly naive speech and deals with children’s everyday life. It takes inspiration both from the classic tale by its realistic features and from the contemporary tale by its fantasy. Let’s mention for example that animals can speak and, when in the absence of their masters, they create and evolve into complicity, even into an identification with their favourite readers – children. When in the presence of their masters, however, they become what the latter see or want to see in them… and what they really are – dogs living and acting simply as dogs. In this play, dogs and children look so much alike and understand each other so well in the universe they share away from that of adults, that the author of “The Little Prince” would certainly have loved this tale. With nursery rhymes and the lyric of “O sole mio”. Also two easy recipes. Dulce Rodrigues believes that performing this chaming play at school or in private will help revealing a future-to-be actor or actress. |

Books Day in Walferdange, Luxembourg
I usually don’t write about a literary event after I have attended it, but I would nevertheless like to leave a trace of my participation at the Books Day (Journées du Livre) in Walferdange, Luxembourg, on November 21st and 22, 2009.
At the request of association Amitié Portugal-Luxembourg I developped there a few kids’ activities turning around science and maths and inspired by the tales “The myth of Sissa”, “Dido, queen of Carthage”, “A snail’s adventure”, among others. Exhibition as well of my kids’ books.

Festival Camões at Oloron Sainte-Marie, France
Festival Camões in Oloron Sainte-Marie, France
At the invitation of the Association France-Portugal, I was in Oloron Sainte-Marie, in France, from June 8 to 14, and participated in the celebrations held in that French town in honour of the great Portuguese poet Luíz de Camões.
In the afternoon of June 9, I was interviewed by Helène Clairfond for Radio Oloron. The subject of the radio broadcast obviously covered the life and work of Luís de Camões, and during the interview I read a few poems (in French translation) of this great Portuguese poet.
The following day, June 10, as well in the afternoon, I went to the Centre Culturel Leclerc for a “story time” activity with children. Considering that my visit to Oloron was part of the Festival Camões, I read besides excerpts from my most recent children’s books also a few poems written by school children in France inspired by my story books.
The exhibition on the life and work of Camões was officially inaugurated on June 11 during a conference, followed by a cocktail, offered by the Town Hall of Oloron Sainte-Marie. I addressed the conference. As you know, in addition to my literary activity for children I’m also a passionate amateur historian, particularly in what concerns Portuguese History and Culture. I was very pleased to see (thru feedback I received) that the intensity and emotion of my speech about Camões charmed the audience all the time and cast a deeper interest about not only the lyrical poesy of this world-genius of literature but also his epic poem “The Lusiads”.

Book signing at the 2009 Geneva Book Fair
Dear friends and acquaintances,
Let me share with you another important step in my writing4kids career. On April 25 in the morning and 26 in the afternoon, I was present at the Geneva International Book Fair (Switzerland) for a book signing of Le Père Noel est enrhumé at the invitation of the publisher.
It was another rich experience, especially under the human point of view.
My next cultural activity will most certainly be only in June. Until then, I wish you the best.
